Pieminister
on Church Street, on the Edge of Manchester’s Northern Quarter, over the road
from Affleck’s Palace, is a pie shop that sells Pieminister pies.
Pieminister make and sell pies in
their own (and other) pie outlets up and down the country, and in the pie
section of my local Waitrose.
I’ve had their pies from my local
Waitrose before… they are generally tasty pies (although I do find the pastry
can be a little too chewy) and come in a range of interesting and classic flavours with funky names –
such as ‘The Kate & Sidney’ ‘Chicken of Aragon’ the ‘Pietanic’ fish pie and
the ‘Heidi’.
In the Pieminister on Church Street, on the Edge of Manchester’s Northern
Quarter, over the road from Affleck’s Palace, I had two of their special
seasonal pies: the ‘Three Kings Pie’ and a ‘Christingle Pie’.
You can buy sides individually or
collectively as “The Mothership” -
mash, gravy, minty mushy peas, grated cheddar cheese and crispy shallots. All
tasty good but my one niggle would be to serve it all a little hotter.
Three Kings Pie – turkey, bacon & cranberry stuffing.
Christingle Pie – honey roast parsnip, cheddar cheese & chestnuts.
If you are a fan of pies,
Pieminister on Church Street, on the Edge of Manchester’s Northern Quarter,
over the road from Affleck’s Palace, who sell Pieminister pies are worth
checking out… but I still prefer the nearby 'Pie & Ale' (see
here).
