The Old Sessions House, Knutsford

A ‘New Moon Pub’ (see here), The Old Sessions House takes up a prominent place on the corner of Princess Street and Tatton Street in the charming town of Knutsford.

I visited for their excellent value Sunday Lunch that offers three courses for £14.95 (two for £12.95)

To start: Warm Tartlet of Smoked Mackerel & Apple on a fennel & red onion slaw.

Main: Roast Rump of Mature English Beef with homemade Yorkshire pudding, duck fat roast potatoes & glazed vegetables

Real Chips

Dessert: Warm Apple & Sultana Pie laced with calvados – I opted for ice cream over the real vanilla custard

Pros – exceptional value; fab gravy; great Yorkie; good roasties; decent veg; excellent chips; tasty homely pie; craft ales, good service.

Cons – asked for the meat pink and it came a little grey (good taste nonetheless); the Mackerel starter was nothing special; the pie could’ve been served a little warmer.

Would I return? Yep!
