Turners, Birmingham #MichelinStar

Generally, when I write blog posts, the hope is that people will see the pictures of the food and want to go and eat it for themselves. Sadly, this will not be the case for this post… but do read on, for there is good news too!

Despite successfully retaining a Michelin star since 2009, Chef Patron Richard Turner, is taking a bold move by dispensing with tasting menus and some of the formality that people assume goes hand in hand with this ‘type of food’, to re-launch as “Turners at 69”, with plans to be more “relaxed” and “accessible”.

Follow their new Twitter account for further details of ‪@turnersat69 - in the meantime, enjoy these pictures of one of the last ever “Simply Turners” tasting menus:

Sea trout – lime, buttermilk & seaweed

Gougére – 36 month aged Gruyere

Ox cheek dumpling

Smoked ham croquette

Smoked eel – potato, horseradish, & caviar

Chicken liver – chicken skin & truffle butter

Scallop – heritage carrots, orange & pine

Salt marsh spring lamb – alliums, curd & madeira

Sea buckthorn – chocolate & meringue

Raspberry – yoghurt, raspberry, rose & granola
