“You should write a blog.”

“I have thought about it…”

Thinking time over. Here it is.

I love food. I love reading about it. Watching TV shows about it. Cooking it. Tasting it. Sharing it. Dreaming about it. Talking about it. So now, why not, what seems the natural progression, writing about it?

I have just got back from my first trip to Asia - Singapore and Bali to be specific, where I was privileged enough to dine in some of the region’s finest restaurants and enjoy numerous other encounters with Asia’s fabulous food fare.

We had been in Singapore for just a few hours. After taking in the magnificent night time cityscape with drinks at the ultra cool ‘Ku De Ta’ (atop of the Marina Bay Sands complex) and further drinks in the Lantern Bar (atop of the Fullerton Bay Hotel) we headed for our, much anticipated, first visit to a Hawker Centre. The, so it is said, ‘overpriced and touristy’ Newton Circus Hawker’s Centre - we didn’t mind… we were tourists!

It was at Newton, whilst I tucked into Grilled Stingray, smothered in sambal and served on banana leaf; a huge plate of Clams; Steamed Buns; Sambal Kangkong, a dish of leafy green vegetables; Black Pepper Sotong (squid); Noodles and the delicious Chilli Crab, that Sarah, my stepson’s girlfriend and our host and tour guide for the evening said, “You should write a blog.”

A week later, we had eaten our way to Bali and were sat in Mozaic talking about the amazing dining experience that we were sharing and the phenomenal gastronomic delights that we had been lucky enough to have over the last seven days when Sarah asserted, “You really should write a blog.”

“I will.”
